Becoming a Member

Localis runs a network of member organisations who meet regularly to discuss the public policy issues of the day and provide intellectual input on future project development. Localis members fund the research programme and pay a financial ‘subscription’ (at the start of the calendar year) calculated on the basis of their population

Local Government

All local authorities in England and Wales can join:

  • County Councils
  • Unitary Authorities
  • London Boroughs
  • Metropolitan Authorities
  • District Councils
  • Town and Parish Councils

The subscription to Localis operate at different levels and are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Business

Localis believes that business and local government should work together to provide solutions which will benefit society. Businesses with an interest in local government and its future are welcome to become members of Localis. Many organisations want business to be involved solely as financial donors. Localis is different. We regard business as a vital partner in advancing the agenda for local government and helping to deliver improvements for local communities.

We hope and expect the business members of Localis to play a full and active part.

Subscription levels are set on an individual basis.

Other

Localis seeks to work with many partners, including the voluntary sector as well as community groups and other organisations. Members in this category might include housing associations, NHS bodies, charities and others who have an interest in local democracy and the role that local government should play. Subscription levels will be set on an individual basis.

To find out more about the benefits of joining the Localis network, please telephone James Morris on 020 7340 2650 or email james.morris@localisresearch.org

Localis proposes a radical overhaul of the current system of regional governance
